Been a fan of freestylemusic since the first time I heard it 15 years ago.
Now I'm finally getting into producing after many years of DJing.


I really wanna get into editing, If there is a tutorial out there or if anybody of You pros are willing to share some tips with a hungry editfreak like me. Please let me know, I really wanna learn some techniques. I'm sitting on Pro-Tools LE 7.4.2 and Logic Pro.

Hello All:

I've been working extremely long hours dedicating my time to the art of audio editing. In last 10 years you may have even heard of me. I use the name Joey "Danger" Altura, "Magnetic Blades", "Shockphobia", have a Self Digital Band "Shockphobia And The Blackwoods", "Nasty Incredible", "dNb247" and finally "The Dangerous One".

I can't imagine a greater post to reply to then this one. It's been some time since there has been a post like this and I too am an ambassador to those words you published for us Freddy.

As if that weren't enough, the mentioning of your name next to mine is always a treat and never gets old. I thank you for always remembering me as the example of my self dubbed Special Effects Audio Edits because it is very important that we as artists of this art form have an actual job title and description in one branded set of words--it does say everything about what we do in the business and what that job title describes.

I hope that made sense because it is difficult to explain to those readers that are not aware of the work we do and the labor it takes to perform these master work(s).

I think it is very clear what you have stated regarding the use of tools to develop the edits..."use anything" and that is as simple as it can be said. The reason it is simply said is because those trying it for the first time or are trying to get better at it should endure using "anything" or everything available because without the human touch their is no machine that can run and perform these edits just right.

Others may sound so perfect that it does sound incredibly mechanical and though it still sounds good you don't ever want an art form to become dominated solely by machines.

There's always that talk ove the water cooler when there is a new edit mix released or published by an editor and it wouldn't be the same if the editor had no actual performance credits in the labor which is what we editors talk about when we're done hearing the work(s).

I use a $30.00 program believe it or not entitled "Magix Music Maker Deluxe Generation 5" religiously just to name a few and have no real reason for change other than I would like to use midi to record other projects aside from audio editing.

Every single cut you hear is done from scratch piece by piece...and I mean every single splice. Alot of work indeed but I choose this to get the reel to reel feel into the mix like when it was done on reel to reel tape recorders.

I come from the school of the Razor and though have never edited on an actual reel to reel have modified my own tape decks as Fred "The Edit" Rivera and utilized a standard cassette deck as my recorder in which I did have to cut the miniature pieces of tape and it worked just as good, anything to get the name out there but more importantly my work and the same advice I give to you.

I also utilize Sound Forge Audio Studio 8.0 to use filters, effects and for Mastering with a $thousands of dollars in plug ins and full library of enhancements. Sometimes I use Acid Music Studio 7.0 for beat mapping a mix together such as a 30 minute mix.

What I do is create my edits utilizing the aforementioned tools and then import them to the "Acid Side" as I like to say before I open the program (I kid you not I do say that before I open the program as Batman would say for "The Bat Cave" or "Bat Mobile" lol) and then from a separate folder create a copy of those mixes before importing (my back up is safe elsewhere on my hard drives).

This assures me when I mess up this time (and I WILL mess up 99.9% of the time before the mix is even right) that I can always get a copy from the back up copy or the original is ruined. To be truthful Fred "The Edit" taught me along the ropes of that program once about a few summers ago.

I hated it at first but it's because I was so used to one platform or program suite and then the editor's heart and mind took over and everything became native and I have been using it to create DJ style non stop 30 minute and 1 hour mixes with edits created on other tools so it's cool. Like all else, it's tricky at first but with the power of lessons & experience comes the great power of knowledge and so we share the gift, even if by way of words.

It doesn't matter what you cut or slice with to mix it up and there are other factors such as motivation, inspiration and dedication that go into finalizing a product of Special Effects Audio Editing.

Digital or Analog Editing in the end comes down to the following;
The eventual solution is a result of your intent.

Editz Planet Members,

We apologize for the hiccup we had this past week. Some things happen to the best of us.

We will be implementing various things to the website, so there will be site down times here and there. Thank you for your understanding.

1. A paid subscription based download feature will be offered for people who wish to own pristine edits, remixes and original productions with the highest quality available and without the website ID's present on the audio file.

2. Video options will also show up like you tube style viewing etc.

3. We are looking at offering a possible artist , producer community integration option for people who want to sell their own works and have a fan base built upon their creation of their own created pages.

4. We are looking to create a you tube style based Star Trek video community.

5. We want to bring in user upload features that will enable them to showcase their edits, remixes and original productions for free instant community downloads. This will probably be integrated via the downloads section.

There other technologies we are looking at to make this place a better one.

Please bear in mind that we are improving this community to better serve you and to better the quality entertainment value for your daily visits.
